My name is Lily. Today is Saturday. I do my homework and read books. My parents do housework at home. My father can cook. My mother can wash the clothes. Today we have salad, tomatoes and beef for lunch. Tomatoes are our favourite food. Tomorrow we’ll visit my grandparents. They live in a small village. There is a river and many mountains near the village. I love the small village.

It’s sunny today. We have a fun time in the nature park.

The nature park is so beautiful. The sky is blue. There are many birds in the sky. The water in the lake is clean. There are many fish in it. The grass is green. There are many yellow flowers.

Lucy can sing many English songs. Tom can tell interesting stories. Amy can dance very well. We have a party. We sing and dance together. We play games together. How happy we are!

We have a picnic on the grass. Some of us have hamburgers, chicken and beef. Some love juice and ice cream. The food is delicious.

In the afternoon, we climb mountains together. We’re tired. But that’s interesting! What a happy day!

Mother’s Day

One of the best ways to celebrate Mother’s Day is to give your mum the Day off. Let her relax with the rest of the family doing all the housework. Usually, dad and the kids will let mum sleep late that morning as they go into the kitchen to prepare her favourite breakfast. Never forget to place a vase with a single flower on the table beside the food. The kids can pick up the flower from the garden or buy one from the shop. Arrange everything nicely before mum wakes up. Some families will carry the food and mum’s favourite sections from the newspaper to her bedroom so that mum can have breakfast in bed. Presents and cards from the kids can be handed to mum by themselves or just placed on the dining table.

After breakfast, go anywhere mum likes to go. Shopping, swimming or going on a picnic in the garden. Make a special Mother’s Day dinner or take mum out for a great meal in a famous restaurant she loves most.

During the day we work and play, and at night we sleep. Sleep is very important. We spend about one third of our life sleeping. Our bodies rest when we sleep, so we feel fresh and energetic(精力旺盛的) the next day. Our bodies grow most when we are asleep. Children (from eight to nine) need ten hours of sleep every night. They can be better at their lessons if they have a good night’s sleep.

We need plenty of air when we sleep. If not we will feel tired when we wake up. It’s a good idea to sleep with the window open so we can have plenty of fresh air. When we are sleeping, we mustn’t cover our heads or we cannot breathe(呼吸) well.

Long long ago, there was a king. He liked to draw pictures and he thought his pictures were very good. No one liked his pictures but they were afraid of(害怕) him. So they said he drew very well.

One day he showed his pictures to an honest(诚实) man, and said, “How about my pictures?” The honest man said that they were bad. The king got angry and put him into prison(监狱).

After a month the king let the honest man be free. When the man came out of prison, the king asked him to have dinner with him. He showed him some new pictures and asked, “How about these new pictures?” The honest man said nothing and turned back to the soldiers(士兵), “Put me into prison.”

Chinese school is different from English school. In China, school starts at 8 o'clock and finishes at 4 o'clock. In the UK, school starts at 9 o'clock and finishes at half past three. In China, students sit in lines and they do morning exercises every day. In the UK, students often sit around tables and they sing songs together every morning. But both students in China and in the UK can have fun at break time. And they do homework every day.

I have a good friend. His name is Timmy. He is from Edinburgh in England. At weekends he often gets up at five o’clock. Then he helps his father with a lot of housework. At seven o’clock he rides bike to the market (市场). He sells bananas and apples there. In spare (空闲) time he reads some books and does some homework there. His family needs money. So Timmy has a dream. He hopes to have a big shop to sell bananas and apples one day. He wants his family to have a happy life in the future.
